stormy days

grace s

i’m not afraid of being high

i’m afraid of looking down

suspended reality up in the

static clouds

anticipating

for a strike or

a reason to ignite

something deeper than fight or flight

from the hallows in my bones

that rattles for hope of

suspicion reborn or unheard

the rumble of regret bellows

through the darkness

then flashes in rapid succession

prompting the flood gates to open

at this point it’s too late to stop

the storm has come and the battle has begun

too hopeful that this rain comes in seasons

if there was a sufficient one i would give you a reason

time knows the sun will come again

even when the consuming thick fog

overshadows the remnants of truth

until the light comes again

bringing someone

refreshed and thought through

guilt plays tricks as time ticks

fear that the cause for darkness is me

yet the truth is

it will always be because of you

your stormy days roll through

with the intention of inflicting

blurry lines

your darkness takes no more light

what’s left of the hope is mine

your cruel and cold heart rips all love and trust from an unsuspecting chest

i dance alone in the rain meant

to drown out our best

next time you use electric touch

to build up destruction

i hope karma backfires

and brings no warning
