Sting When You’re Pinning

AuburnScribbler

Out with the old,

in with the new,

as woodworm’s

poison, was so true,

but as new panels,

fell into place,

I saw his pain,

and his grimace,

for Pa’s grazed arm,

was on show,

my Mother swore,

she didn’t know,

but when he raised,

for inspection,

Ma did see,

the infection,

so, with her talons,

she did squeeze,

with little yelp,

my Father eased,

we then went out,

to see our work,

though one of us,

was somewhat hurt,

but, with a toast,

to good dear Harry,

we’re sure, that this

scar would carry,

thus in the garden,

and in our lives,

we can heal, and

indeed confide.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Recently, the family and I, updated our fence panels. The ones that needed replacing, had most likely been there since the late eighties, and we could clearly see the woodworm eating through. We teamed up with our friend Harry, (a local handyman), to take down the old panels, and install the new ones. What we thought would take up the whole morning, actually took just over an hour, so our teamwork, made the dream work, so to speak. However, during this, my Pa injured his arm on a piece of rotten wood, and got a splinter, which of course, was treated presently, by my Ma, who still thinks it was a case of a boyish overreaction. So, here is cheery docu-poem of the affair, entitled "Sting When You're Pinning", along with a picture of the said fence panels, as clearly a picture of Pa's wound, wouldn't be appropriate, especially if your reading this whilst having your breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also, the banner picture I deem apt, as it resembles the Astro-turf we have in our garden, perhaps, better than real grass, as you don't have to mow it, hahaha! I hope that you enjoy this poem, I hope that you and your families have loving activities to do, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Sharing this little mishap is so delightful, although I'm sure not for Pa. How nice that such a project is a family affair. Great pic! What a lovely space to enjoy, as I have enjoyed this poem dear friend.

Thanks for the read Bella, and yeah, I though in sharing this, it would be a nice break from the darker stuff, also it was Pa who asked me to write it, so I did.

It's important to keep the teamwork spirit up within the family, as despite the many arguments, the things we do, result in a general unity. I'm happy to report Pa's arm is fully recovered, and thanks for the compliment on my garden, I really do enjoy the space, when the weather is on side that is.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

Thanks for the read Teddy.15, and bless you!

Perish the thought of your removal, no-one has the power to get rid of you, but you have the power to remove "manky" fence panels hahaha!

I hope that all is well.
