The Phatom Kiss

PrimalHeaven

There is a hidden face

Obscured in shadow

It resides just beyond

Her reach.

She can not see.

Every night she can feel

The heat of passion

And love flowing all around

Her.

Hand outstretched

Her fingers only encounter

The empty air.

In her slumber

She feels the gentle press

Of lips against

Her own.

It happens every night.

The kiss burns her

And beats a heated rush through

Her soul.

When darkness comes

She pretends to dream and

Awaits her mysterious

Lover.

She awaits his presence

Then illuminates his visage

And tosses away the gloom.

She takes in the virile

Appearance

And rises to meet him.

For she craved deeply

His

Phantom Kiss.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Inspired by the story of Eros and Psyche. I adore mythology of every form and while a majority of the various stories are sick, depraved, and wrong, I still love them for their fanciful, whimsical, romantic, and heroic aspects.
