A Heart Needs a Home

Accidental Poet

All throughout your life

You’ll have things to hold onto

People, pets, places

A heart full of memories to bond to

Days from your youth

The joys of childhood

Teenage years of excitement

Maturing into adulthood

Building your own scrapbook

Turning the pages of your life

A question mark at every fork in the road

This way or that to avoid emotional strife

Then one magical day

Love appears by surprise

Mystified by a smile

Your destiny in her eyes

How can love be so bright,

And yet, not burn your heart?

Holding you captive

In endless love from the start

If you’re truly in love

You’re never really alone

The heart knows what it needs

A heart needs a home

This is so true. It's as if my life was just encapsulated. Loved the wisdom in this poem and especially the last two lines. - Phil A.
