Love Pains

SHELLY

I throw my arms up in the air

Again, love has left me in despair

Taking me on a merry-go-round

Until I no longer heard a sound

No infectious laughter, no sweet words

No labored breathing, I feel so absurd

For one moment in time l let love in

Forgetting it is such a dangerous sin

It had me fooled with its beauty & poise

Its glitter & fanfare was just empty noise

Seems like I will never learn

That love's only aim is to watch you burn

I sit with my tears & my broken heart

Promising myself from love I'll depart

My heart has been hardened & never again

Will I ever allow it to let love back in

Lovely soliloquy, a nice variation on a universal theme... but we all know... you'll be back!
