Anniversary Blues

Another year together

Facing day to day life

Being there for each other

During happiness and strife

 

It's a day to be celebrated

So people say

But I don't feel elated

On this special day

 

I woke up alone this morning

Thought you'd be by my side

Instead you preferred to be working

That left me torn up inside

 

I know you're busy

But I'm important too

So I keep quiet to make things easy

And to not upset you

 

We go into the future

Not sure what it holds

It can be an adventure

Or can be so very cold

 

Whatever it may be

It's up to you to decide

I'm no longer sitting idly

And let life pass me by
