On Their Last Drive

duggantherhymer

Crowded in a truck with an attached trailer they are on their last drive
This time tomorrow they will not be alive
Bound for the abattoir and destined to die
Those who say animals do not feel fear and suffering believe their own lie
To boost his financial coffers by the farmer sold
Most cattle are creatures not destined to grow old
With a violent end most of them have a date
Most of them their meat destined for the dinner plate
That they are born to die animals do not realize
In the abattoir of death they will see their last sunrise
They bellow in the trucks going through the country town
Little realizing that they are on their last sundown
The abattoir bound cattle are on their last drive
This time tomorrow they will not be alive.
