People can be places too

ananyaaaa

Seeing around, watching this world being aloof,

I realised that people can be places too,

Ones you've never met and only heard of them,

Stuffed with long roads, abandoned buildings and gardens of stealth,

After all the day's labour, sleeplessly returning to that person,

Who sees you like a monument and loves you like a religion,

When this fatal loop of remorse creates an endless load of grief,

It kisses me all over my body and makes the most beautiful, tender, little drawing of it,

We carry these people inside us like some haunted places,

Growing limitless and navigating our unwieldy sadness,

These people are like the land post-war,

Echoes of hunger and separation, painted silhouettes of gore,

So I'll take these places with me into the ache of the world,

Blessed by these sullen memories, shrieked in curses as I swore,

Inside its realm I took my life as a losing prize,

With your name on my lips, snared within, Therefore I survive.
