Youth Potion By Sherry Healy Poet

sherry Healy

Title: Youth Potion

Soil filled with a seed of hope and memory

A garden once existed there

The dirt in my hand might hold a past notion

A youth potion

A clean smell of air

Once a time

Tomatoes and corn grew there

The seasons did time

No thing in the dirt went un mined

Mud came when the earth rained

I did not mind

The mild of heat took care of that

I sat and watched the tomatoes sat

I loved them so

My hand helped that soil

I love it still

  • Comment from author about the poem: Youth Potion, a simple happy verse, speaks to the reader suggesting the experience of garden growth. The garden grows by both natural and human interaction. If the reader dives deeper into the poem in the same manner the gardener loves and watches life grow the reader will identify his or her own growth.
