You're a Has-Been.
A Barbie girl, living a Barbie life
Fancy cars, big boats
Money, money, money
(or debt, debt, debt?)
And over a thousand friends, as far as the eye can see!
"Living your best life."
Then you met me.
I'm a Never-Was.
Always faithfully waiting...
A fool faithful to lies,
To promised beginnings
That never come.
Immutable like plastic.
But not you--you are changing.
The years are starting to show.
Sags, wrinkles, a voice like a frog.
(Makeup only goes so far.)
Time wins in the end.
It always does.
But I didn't care;
I saw your potential.
I saw a future, a beautiful story.
After all, opposites attract.
My eyes have the ability to peel back the years...
But you cared.
You surround yourself with friends-
Younger, more beautiful.
You delude yourself,
You "live your best life."
You lead people on.
With words you come;
In silence you leave.
Does it make you feel younger?
We could have been...something.
We could have been Something.
But we are an Almost-Was.
And most importantly...
We are a Never-Will-Be.
