The September Horse Fair

duggantherhymer

The freshness of Autumn in the morning air
And the smell of horse in the Millstreet Town  Square at the September Fair
Horse buyers from all over Ireland in search of their bargain buy of the day
For to make the long journey for them to Millstreet Town to financially pay
With the approach of Winter and not doing financially well
Most of the sellers their horses were anxious to sell
Money changed hands with handshakes when deals were done
Among seller and buyers at horse fairs satisfaction is not with everyone
In Ireland in the twenty first century
Horse fairs are no longer the big attraction they used to be
The passing of time change with it always does bring
And what used to be popular is no longer an in thing
In view of Clara in the countryside where the waterways meet
The September Horse fair in the Town of Millstreet
Was a big occasion in the long ago
Going back in time thirty years or so.
