Love is War I

Kudakwashe Muchechemera

Have you ever loved someone so much you justify their every wrong
desperate to be present in their lives you try to stay strong
when their apparent disregard is slowly killing you
when their deceit is evident to everyone but you

when you know they're in the wrong yet you love them regardless
you do all you can to be the light in their darkness
this is the definition- of what true love is
you holding on even though it's preposterous.

until fear disguised as hate begins to tear you apart;
the mind tries to reconcile the pain of a broken heart
until again you find peace in uncertainty
and call it love out of need for security.

yeah I know I did you wrong over and over again
until we both walked away to escape insecurities
I had much more than I deserved and I threw it all away
with each day that goes by our memories fade away

You dont miss the water
until the well runs dry
but I guess that's how it is-
when- ignorance thrives
if I could, I'd turn back the hands of time

I'm motivated by the need to be better though
I'm still haunted by the truth in the lies I told
instead of keeping you warm I left you out in the cold
I was wrong
Yeah I was wrong to do that
And I'm sorry

You know, I like the fact that you acknowledge you were wrong too, and want to work on yourself. It takes courage to admit that. Unfortunately, we don't realize what we have until it's too late. But, we can learn and make sure we make better decisions next time! Great read!
