Yellow dog

Yellow dog

July, midday heat

Sunday before lunch

and that stupid calling

Lunch!

They already called me twice

They didn't let me bring the dog into the house

I was afraid he would leave

It's his first day with me

I brought him from the other side of the road

I left him on a barrel in a yard full of junk

The dog is small and the barrel is tall

He's not going anywhere

After lunch, they forced me to go to sleep

And I fell asleep reluctantly

I dreamed of my little yellow dog

Left on that barrel

Full of tar
