The Rhymers Rhyme On

duggantherhymer

In twenty first century poetry blank verse is the in thing
The praises of rhymers literary critics never sing
And though rhyme was quite popular up to a few decades ago
Nothing lasts forever happens to be so
Yet worldwide there are rhymers in every village, city and town
Who write for the love of it not for money or literary renown
Just for the love of doing it they write rhymes every day
The people with rhyming words who love to play
In the age when the good writers of novels know of great wealth and fame
Few writers at writing make for themselves a name
Great writers like greats at anything are of the few
And this is not saying anything that is new
The days of rhyme are in the long gone
But true to their calling the rhymers rhyme on.
