Colour

peto

Surrounded by light lying low in the shade

Of a past where the shadows of fear are displayed

Unaware she's involved in the game being played

Her bruised heart is the colour of love

The last tear she felt sink at the end of his call

Pushed the rapids toward a sheer drop waterfall

Before drowning she learned how to master the crawl

Her bruised heart is the colour of love

Cut to ribbons she tied in a butterfly bow

Sorrow's bouquet a fractured emotional low

Fills with pride as she watches her little ones grow

Her bruised heart is the colour of love

Every now and again she'll escape the mundane

Drink and drugs tender hugs sex and unwanted pain

Shackles crash to the ground dancing free in the rain

Her bruised heart is the colour of love

She is glowing again getting ready to shine

Put herself a bit closer to front of the line

Ditched the shame she took on with her no entry sign

Her bruised heart is being healed by her love

I really like the words in this )

I especially like ‘ colour of love ‘ how you repeat these words in every verse

    And these lines

‘ Cut to ribbons she tied in a butterfly bow
    Sorrow's bouquet’

    ‘dancing free in the rain

She is glowing again getting ready to shine

A good writing .. and yes love can be healing .. love from others , and ‘ self love ‘

    An engaging well written poem

      If we don't love ourselves
How can we expect anyone else to love us

Yeah , it’s difficult when we don’t fully love ourselves . But I think there’s always a reason as to why someone might feel a lack of self love .. I guess we need to learn how to be more accepting of ourselves .

        Your welcome ))

I really like how clearly you display the fact that....yes, she's been through hell...but she fought back, and survived! "She is glowing again getting ready to shine-Put herself a bit closer to front of the line -Ditched the shame she took on with her no entry sign" Strong independent woman! I relate to this piece so much! Loved it!!

Bruised and battered, her raw heart the colour of love, evokes powerful images and emotions. This is a wonderful poem of self realization, with exquisite rhyming and flow from one stanza to the next. Kudos my friend, great write!

As one who knows a broken heart when she sees it, this is just an excellent piece! She "ditched the shame" and is ready to be healed by her own love......Powerful!!
