Mustard Multiplied

orchidee

Tune: Doncaster

('Put thou thy trust in God')

Matthew 13 v.31-32

***********

The kingdom of heaven be

Like a mustard seed, see

Which one took and sowed in the field

A great plant it did yield

For that seed is indeed

The smallest of all seeds

But when it is grown, greatest be

Among the herbs surely

And it becomes a tree

And large enough it be

For birds of the air to lodge, come

Make there their nests, their home

So from small beginnings

It produces great things

Let us not waste a single seed

But each plant tend and feed

So for a long time there wasn't room for anybody. Why was the decision made to expand it? People are more virtuous today?....don't make me laugh! And, of course how many heavens are there? LOL

Thanks Dave. It means the kingdom starts from small beginnings. One heaven, I say!

      The last supper perhaps. 💖

Thanks Teddy. Maybe they did have mustard with their bread and wine and other food and drink.

The first line reminds me of my parents! They always said...."all you need is Faith as small as a mustard seed"...you know the rest! 🙂

Thanks Liz. Yes, it should move mountains, a mustard seed amount of faith. If it don't seem to move mountains, try a fig tree (or equivalent) as Jesus did. A 'naughty' fig tree would not bear figs. Yet it's said 'it was not the time for figs yet'. So let us work that one out!

          • LIZ

Well, A 'naughty' fig tree COULD still bear figs. When we allow Jesus to take over, anything is possible! You know? Just saying! 🙂

Yes, I see. It's bit of a mystery, if figs were expected outside of fig-producing season, maybe?
Meanwhile - don't give me figs, for a certain reason. Thinks of prunes, vindaloo, etc. Too Much Info (TMI) to give details. lol.

              • LIZ

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 not prunes!!!!! That's what was given to me a my siblings when we couldn't......you know....TMI 🤣

I love the last stanza, so true of many things that we need. You are inspired my friend!

                    Cooeee, thanks Bella. lol.
