Hearts Ablaze: The Everchanging Faces of Leadership

GeekSusie

In days of old, with trust afire,

A politician's words inspired,

They led with vigor, led with grace,

A noble charge to head the race.

The trust of people in their hands,

A bond unbroken 'cross the lands,

With promises and honor true,

A golden age, those days we knew.

But time did march, and hearts grew cold,

And voices raised grew brash and bold,

Suspicions sowed and rumors spread,

The age of innocence was dead.

The tarnished crowns of those who lead,

Did breed contempt and thoughts of greed,

Some wore their masks, their smiles a lie,

While others fought, a truth to buy.

A battlefield, this stage has grown,

With fights and feuds like none have known,

In trust, some find a place to stand,

While others drift like shifting sand.

Yet still, a hope does linger there,

A spark unseen in dark despair,

For those who lead with hearts ablaze,

May yet redeem these twisted days.

In eyes of young, the fire glows,

In hands unscarred by time and woes,

The politicians of tomorrow,

May heal the wounds and soothe the sorrow.

For in this dance of good and ill,

A choice remains, a void to fill,

The call of honor, strong and true,

May yet reshape what we once knew.

This so depicts the present situation with regard to American politics and the clowns that each of the 2 main parties have as frontrunners. if only one, just one person could pick up the charge, be recognized and be the leader the people truly need. Very very well written, loved this!
