The Battle Between My Heart and Head

Destined Perspectives

Friendship is easier.
The emotions feel safer.
Until they feel like a cage.
Lines become blurred.
You've gotten to close.
The coldness creeps in.
Then regret creeps in.
A war plays out in my head.
My fears always win.
My sharp tongue
driving the sword
through our hearts.
I run away from the
crime scene in tears.
I saved us both I tell
myself, but the words
bring no comfort now.
