Running Late

Noparedon

5 o’clock in the morning,

Rain pouring still snoring,

Eyes low temperature cold,

“Rise up! Do as you’re told!”

30 more minutes I’m tired,

Is there cereal?

“Milk’s expired.”

Nevermind just wait,

“Alright honey but don’t be late!”

30 minutes become an hour,

A once sweet mother now sour,

“What is taking you so long!”

One more minute I’ll be in the shower!

“Go immediately!”

“Stop lying down!”

I get up carrying a big frown,

But the warm water hits me instantly,

I imagine myself in a peaceful town.

The beautiful soft ringtone,

Wonderful stream,

All alone in the bathroom,

Is this really a dream?

“Rise up at once!”

“Do you realize it’s eight!”

All I could do was cover my head,

Oh shit! I’m late.

Obviously I never said that,

I’m no fool to curse,

“Just go in the shower and leave,”

“I’ll hand you a ten from my purse.”

I shower and get ready,

Before taking the ten,

But she stops and warns me,

“Never do this again…”
