In halls of power and streets of strife,
Divisions grow and tensions thrive.
Left and right, a chasm wide,
Where once were thoughts now dwell the tides.
The tower of lobbyists, shades of gray,
A congressmen's dance, a disarray.
A generation's cry, fresh and raw,
Calls for change, seeks new law.
A poet from left, a poet from right,
Different views, yet both in sight.
Words for protest, or calm the fray,
Each heart feels a different way.
"My Democracy," a voice does call,
Many faces, yet room for all.
A being to nourish, to keep alive,
In your heart, may it thrive.
The need to listen, the yearn to speak,
In the silence, a future bleak.
For the love of country, and dreams anew,
We must reconcile, we must pursue.
From the heartache of history, slow healing in sight,
A shared human experience, fragile yet bright.
May we find our Pericles, between oceans vast,
Speak what's needed, let shadows be cast.
Together we stand, or divided we fall,
The choice is ours, one and all.
A plea for peace, for love, for care,
In a world divided, may we dare.

I'm five days late, I know - such a flow of pieces pass through MPS that it's easy to miss a few.
So how many poems do you have in your archive? Now I've found you, I do hope you will continue to push them out at the permitted one a day.
I enjoy what you have written very much. How could I not when I'm presented with rhyming quatrains, which as a bonus make a great deal of sense.
PS: New York City gets a thumbs up as well.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sweet message. Your thoughtful sentiments made me genuinely smile. Life may be quite busy, so I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to me.
The quantity of poems in my repository has increased over time; it is the result of a labor of love. Though I haven't kept track in a while, I'm overjoyed to learn that you appreciate my work,. Your gratitude inspires me greatly, and it makes me happy to know that my words have touched you.
I'm also happy to hear that you think highly of New York City! I'm privileged to call it home because it's a place bursting with ideas.
You are welcome; I will be keeping an eye on you!
And in a shameless effort at self-promotion I present to you an account of one experience I had in your city: 😂

Another perfect read! The last stanza floored me as it summed everything up, like a ribbon and bow on a gift, but the gift is your poem, your depiction of the divide that exists and the offering of a solution. Wonderful!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
