The last word you said to me was bye

I used to spend hours thinking of different things we could talk about

Dreams, fears, passions

I used to think of ways I could talk to you

Finding the perfect words to describe how I was feeling

But the last thing you said to me was bye

A word so small and insignificant but yet holds so much power

The word lingers in my brain

I sound out every syllable

You could’ve used I wish you the best, take care, stay safe but you used bye

Not bye I love you

Not please don’t go

Now that you are gone I wish the only thing I want to say to you is bye

But I care about you to much to do that
