dancing shadows of leaves
 
tell me it's autumn
 
colorful shades, turning from bright green
 
to yellows and pinks, pumpkin orange
 
then to soft browns
 
sunshine beaming
 
through the skeleton of the great oak
 
all the while I'm wondering
 
how could the transition
 
from this now, dozing summer
 
be so glorious?
