I Wish

Elle King

I wish that I could write,

I wish that I could sing,

I wish that I could play music on an instrument of string.

I wish that I was taller,

I wish my eyes were green,

I wish that I could travel to all the places I haven’t seen.

I wish my hair were black,

I wish that I could paint,

I wish that I could see the sight of blood without thinking that I would faint.

I wish that I could dance,

I wish that I were bold,

But most of all I really wish that I wasn’t growing old.

I wish that I could love,

The way I think I could,

I wish that I could feel the way the story says I should.

I wish that I could say,

The thoughts that are my own,

I wonder what has happened to turn my heart to stone?

I wish that I could love you,

The way I one time had,

That love has slipped through all your cracks

Does that make me really bad?

I wished I knew what happened,

To feelings once they go,

Can you chase them down and find them?

I’ll try and then let you know.

My comments on the poem "I wish” by Elle King
You say : “I wish my hair were black…”
This is amazing… Many people with black hair wish it were blonde !…
We always seek that which we don’t have. That which we don’t have attracts us so much. People with straight hair wish to have curly ones…
    Have a nice day…

As humans, we see our own flaws but not so much those of others, hence the grass is always greener on the other side. Truth is, we can wish, but it's up to us to make things happen. Terrific flow and rhyme to this thought provoking piece.
