Soaring Heights of Platitude

bliss

Dreams may not come true lest you sacrifice your reality.

A quest you weren't ready for won't await you.

Love at first sight can be hidden in plainsight.

Beware, it might be reeling you in hindsight.

Soulmates attract like opposing magnets.

Two colliding worlds clash to bring on oblivion.

Cupid's arrow piercingly kills and miraculously revives.

Only on the verge of death do you feel truly alive.

"The one" prompts us to wander in the love of many.

A pearl in a crowd of hollow oysters proves to be an irony.

True love is bound to slip away from sweet liars.

Desires of a pure love but poison ivy adorns you.

"I love you" is a regretful promise if it isn't everlasting.

Confessions of feelings are a motley stirred up in lonely hearts.

Forever doesn't guarantee eternity.

As long as it can be a cherished memory, the curtains will be drawn.

Star-crossed lovers embody a constellation.

Each moment illuminates a bedazzling spark that engulfs you.

Dancing in the moonlight like the sun and the moon during an eclipse.

Movements sweep you off your feet so you lose your balance.

Your heart skips a beat when your lips quiver in fluorescent blush.

The enchantment of a rendezvous lasts till the clock strikes at midnight.

First kiss lures you in, pining unveils anticipation.

The lustful touch might fool a hopeless romantic.

A warm embrace jolts a sugar rush in every word said.

Skin meets skin, a turbulence tremoring to the bone.

Take your breath away in breathless wonder.

How are you to survive an inevitable death?

Love is in the air, realised it was a fatal elixir.

Opened Pandora's box to meet the grim reaper.

Bittersweet farewell to your dear beloved.

Banality plagues you everytime you strive to love.

  • Comment from author about the poem: So, as of lately, I am not so fond of writing about love🙄It’s like the most cliché thing ever and basically, I vent all of that frustration into this poem. It’s not exactly a love poem. It’s the opposite, actually. Although I’m not sure what that is😅 Meaning of the poem🥀❤️‍🩹 It all starts with daydreaming about love and ends when it crashes. You know, it's like all those cheesy love stories you've heard. They sound awesome in your head, but real life isn’t ready for that kind of love. You call it love at first sight, but honestly, it's more like a trap. Soulmates? They're like magnets, pulling together two folks from completely different planets just to make them collide. Love is a rollercoaster; it hurts, but it's also the best high you've ever had. You're always on the hunt for "the one," but you end up falling for many "maybes." It's messy. And don't even get started on lying in love. True love doesn't hang out with liars, period. You crave pure love even if you've made some not-so-pure choices. Saying "I love you" just to switch to "I hate you" later? It's a joke. Forever isn't the same as eternal. Every memory has an expiration date. Star-crossed lovers? They shine so bright that they burn themselves out. Love can be like the sun and the moon, but it's a whirlwind. You're swept off your feet. Your heart races for that first kiss, but the enchantment fades when the clock strikes midnight. It's a tease. Love is in the air, but it's deadly. It's like finding a treasure chest filled with poison. Say goodbye to love because these clichés mess you up every time you try. Hopefully, you guys enjoyed reading my depressingly dark take on love💀 If you liked this poem, share it with your friends and loved ones

Must keep (fave) this one for future reference. My occasional campaign against the concept ‘Love’ and the plethora of poetry which buries it, finds a boost here – although I feel I must re-read several of your propositions to fully extract their message.
I even found your commentary worth the effort (not normally fond of long commentary – feel the meaning should be in the poem or not at all) but here you gave the subject real depth.
      Many thanks for this one.

Thank you❤️ I’m delighted to hear that my poem resonated with you😊 It means a lot to me that you found depth both in the poem and its commentary.
