At dawn, in a narrow dark lane
Crickets stitched rhythm into my trance
And I remembered
“I am a diamond among a sea of glass”
Once seated on fortune
Yet undone by my own hunger
Will I taste the cherry again?
Not at dusk, but at sunrise
These questions knocked endlessly
While yellow light rested on my cheek
Still,
I will break the circle
And make it count again
