God give me strength to face this day!
Something terrible is on the way.
I feel in my bones a sense of fright.
My heart beats fast, my muscles are tight.
Ominous is the proper word.
My wife says my fear is simply absurd,
but she doesn't face the terror I do,
she doesn't know what I'll go through.
"Open wide." I hate those words,
the scariest words I've ever heard.
First comes the pick and then the drill.
"Don't wiggle or twitch; by all means sit still."
His voice sounds like Satan, raspy and gruff.
I say to myself: "I will be tough."
Then I hear the sound of the drill,
whining and screeching, a deathly shrill.
"Be sure to tell me if you feel any pain."
This man has a drill and he's completely insane.
I can feel the enamel begin to fly;
tears roll on my cheeks as I start to cry.
I forgot to tell my dog "goodbye."
If you see my wife, tell her I tried
to be a man and endure the pain,
but, alas, I succumbed to the terrible strain.
"Okay, my friend, all my work is done.
Enjoy the day and have some fun."
You mean that's it; I'm free to go?
I wonder if anyone will ever know
how I cringed with fear in this lay-back chair,
endured the limit my mouth could bear?
I never worried. Completely relaxed.
No one will know the embarrassing facts.
Unless, of course, you spill the beans,
and you know exactly what that means.
You'll be sorry for what you will miss;
You'll be off my Christmas card list!

LOL how I relate to this you have no idea, I have been terrified all my life of the dentist, I actually befriended my last one 20 years ago and she thinks I'm a nut. Saying goodbye to the dog oh so funny and so what I myself do before a check up! LoL thank you for the realism and the down to earth way you reminded.me I'm not alone. LOL 🤣 💖
Is it the helpless feeling when you're in that chair with your mouth wide open, unable to speak, with someone sticking metal objects into your mouth. Not a fun time! Thanks for your comment.
Yes exactly then loss of tongue when Swallowed and heart attack lol 🤣
