Impossible Amends

Prince

The tip of my quill
Can barely write my feelings
As the sun glares at me
Desperate to unleash its fury

Again and again, I tore my letter
Feeling it wasn’t good enough
As a full-hearted apology
For my tremendous transgression

Why I can’t compose? I sat pondering
Until I eventually realized
An apology can’t heal the wound
I willingly inflicted

Tearful blood isn’t enough
To make up for my wrong
But I won’t give up
Trying to make amends
