We all know the truth
We're all born knowing the truth
We all feel the truth
We all reject the feeling
It can be too painful
It can get in the way of reward, or what we think we want, things that mean very little
It can be too scary
Not many people, very few, very very few people can handle the truth
So...they doubt it, they tell themselves they are wrong, they listen to the doubts of others, they give themselves excuses, they listen to the excuses of others, they justify lying away the truth, they bury the truth in booze, drugs, sex, and feelings... They drown away any sign of its existence
Convincing themselves that they don't know the truth.
But the problem is...
The truth can swim..
The truth can rise from the depths..
And if the truth has to struggle just enough to make it's way back to the surface
The truth will cast a monstrous shadow over all the make believe it finds in its earthly presence.
The truth can hunt..
The truth can track you down
And if the truth has to trap you in a cage
Of your own creation
The truth will take you as it's prisoner until you beg for release
Because only the truth
Can set you free.
