The Ephemeral Affair

Blair Stella Flynn

The tiredness in my eyes

Can be seen from miles away

Sleepless nights witnessed my cries

Sorrowful, so much did I pray

I thought this love was eternal

But for you, it was super normal

I heard you told everyone that

What we had was just a dalliance

Meanwhile, for us, I would combat

If you had a mite of affiance

You ran off like a little coward

Thinking you were overpowered

Turned out to be a huge mistake

I just can’t get rid of this ache

There are no flowers or butterflies anymore

The cupid’s arrow made my heart bleed

Our beautiful summer days are all I need

I can’t help longing for everything we had

You were perfect to me before all went bad

Always ignored your disgusting selfishness

To me your voice was so mellifluous

Listened and melted in its sweetness

Had a look so angelic but actually nefarious

Oh how stupid I was to believe

That you would never leave

This little affair made me grieve

Didn’t you really love me a bit?

While I willingly kept our ephemeral secret

ephemeral secret? forbidden maybe? But, a love so strong on your end, but selfishly lacking on the other. Very good writing as it seems to display the heart of the authoor.

yes, it is actually about a forbidden and secret love affair which lasted very short but was so special to the narrator. Thank you so much for the nice comment, means a lot to me!!!
