Butterfly

shyane27

Sometimes I feel like a butterfly.
Growing in my cocoon
But I’m the only one who sees.

I see other cocoons small and new.
With broken wings and crying.
I see a butterfly
Flying tall and high.
I can see her swoop down

I see a caterpillar with fear.
Fear of her
Fear about her.
She swoops to make him feel small.
Trying to make herself feel tall.
But she feels nothing at all
She feels regret and sorrow
But she won't let anyone know
I see her do nothing though

One day i hope to be a butterfly
But I will fly high I will fly to the butterfly
And ask her why

Why butterfly
Why do these things
Why do you not smile
Why why why butterfly
Why can't you just fly

But over and over again I feel trapped
I am trapped in my so called cocoon

One day I will find that caterpillar
tucked in his cocoon
And I will tell him
One day you will fly high
Higher than the butterfly
Higher than I

But If he asks me when
I will tell him
When you escape
From your trap
For the cocoon is holding you back
Not an old butterfly
who is always asking herself why

So now I say Goodbye
Goodbye cocoon
Goodbye caterpillar
Goodbye butterfly

I come back to reality
And see it again
but there is no butterfly
Nor a caterpillar
Only two people
One trying not to cry
But why can’t I stop
And say its wrong
But no I just walk
