Daedalus

Michael Pacheco

"Kurtz is dead." - The Heart of Darkness

Daedalus! Daedalus!

Your spirit was Icarus!

In the Labyrinth of an Ugly Soul

You led yourself and fled

When God and Love found you

You flew

with The Air around your hair like Tree Roots stretching

like branches breaking for the White

But bowmen of the Bad Charity

They shot you with arrows

Invertedly ambitious,

They want Icarus to feed their Tribe

Each day as they pass the Days' Good Deeds through glowing nerves they say,

"He shouldn't have tried to leave without taking us with him."

And the knots in their souls like little bat wings start fluttering

                                                                            - " . . . he who ties a knot is lost forever . . . " Joseph Conrad

Kurtz is Daedalus.

While I was watching the Greatest N.B.A. games of all time., must have been "The Greatest Moments in N.B.A.  History" or "The Greatest 50",

when I saw Westphall bringing down the ball, I said to myself, "That's Victor." When Perry took the shot, I thought, "That's obviously me."

"Daedalus . . . Daedalus . . . your Spirit was Icarus." was the Perry shot. We were in the Battle for The Greatest of All Time.

It happened very similar to what is now called "The Greatest Game Ever Played"

It felt like Endless Overtimes.

In Our World, The Awful Horror already conquered All.

The next poem sent it to multiple overtimes. The next poem has no title.
