We aren't good people.
We don't pray every day.
We just yearn in our hearts.
We aren't such good people.
We go against God,
yet we do it cuz we care.
We're really bad.
We make our parents not so glad.
We dance to the beat of our own band.
We don't want to be bad,
but it's all the choice we had.
We sincerely love God.
It's not odd.
We are just going through a rough time.
Like sour lemon-lime.
This is no fault of our own.
Our tears form a puddle at the foot of Your throne.
Of us there is no clone.
We are single and sad,
so don't be mad.
We are special so we don't fit in.
The smile sags on our chin.
Will we win?
Will you let us?
It's hard to have a relationship
with You, our Father,
when there is communication few
and far between.
We just want to feel seen.
For You to lean,
and listen to us speak.
You are at the peak.
Of sins we reek.
Just peek
at us.
Be the One to check in.
We are hurting.
If you won't look at us,
who will?
We are here, still.
Even though we want to be up there with You.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem written by a religious girl going through a hard time. She felt close to God, and when troubles hit, blamed God for it and felt betrayed. She stopped talking to him. Yet her heart still yearns. She wrote this poem to God. It is on behalf of all people in her situation. \r\nI would love to hear from you if you can identify with this situation!\r\n
