THE COST

nephilim56

Does Heaven have a place
For lifeless limbs of war
Scattered on the battlefield
Does Heaven have a door ?

In which to welcome
Those torn twisted limbs
Of soldiers now home
Where the real torture begins.

Do those limbs have a soul
Or was it wrenched away
In the act of such violence
While chaplains they pray ?

Does Heaven have a heart
That beats monotone
Those poor, poor limbs
Does Heaven  have a soul ?

I suspect the soul of a good man has already been torn away before they go to war, otherwise how could they even be so strong as to kill another. Beautiful words, I would hope that they were placed in a peaceful place such as heaven as we believe it to be. ❤️

I was a little worried the poem might have been a bit strong and misunderstood but the title is meant to explain it. you read it well. as always thank you for your kind words
