Shipwreck

Charles Kick

You don’t have to say a single thing

I’ve already conceived your great sincerity

I don’t come for vengeance or rebuttal

But in this aftermath there will be payment for my pain

I don’t know what I can prove

Though you would give it to me

All the clarity and peace that I have given up on

Like a ship within a library

Its water on the floor and soon

The ocean’s bottom teems with all the

Rusting works of man

This clears my ocean floor

And the ocean of my heart

Might beat so quietly

While up above the ship floats on its way

  • Comment from author about the poem: I am a victim of medical malpractice. This is for that Doctor after the mistake she made. She still doesn't realize that she made a mistake, so I'm moving forward with a lawsuit after all the anguish it's caused me and my family. I forgive her, but I also need to hold her accountable for what was done.
