Lillie's Gratitude

Laylemon

I used to walk on cherry blossom meadows with an anchor tied to my ankle,

With my head held low, my face full of sorrow, every step was a hassle.

But then I hit the sack on a honeybee comb, and the bees stung me from every corner

I hurried on forwards, it was such a bother, I didn't notice the anchor tied to me growing lighter.

Finally, when I got away, the sight before me numbed me of all pain.

I saw my mother planting flowers line by line, my eyes met my father who was watering each one behind.

And to my left, my sister, waving with a smile. And my brother cheering me on, like he did when I walked for the first time.

I looked up, left, right and ahead.

In awe of the place I once dread.

My anchors formed anklets, and my heart felt elate.

I walk on now with a new purpose in my mind,

To meet whatever comes in my way, and just keep going straight.

This is a lovely write. It reminded me of my parents and my brother who passed away many years ago. It reminds me that though life weighs us down, there are special someones waiting to greet us, to welcome us, to help us unburden. Beautiful.
