Unfold

B. Frost

The shades of gray that batter the mind
An imprint from yesterday in a moment we find

Time has passed and more is to be
All in time a faded memory

A collection of seconds that add to the pile
The more there are the more worthwhile

Layered deep behind are the intrusive thoughts
Years of reflection to sort through or not

A lack of trust to feel incomplete
As an image of the memory engages to compete

The window to an epiphany can be a long fall
As the emotions are empty and no longer recalled

A desperate glance at the grace of perfection
A lacking example with the burning dissection

A piece of gray that fades with the night
From a distant view it has vanished from sight

A tear on the edge as the hem works to hide
Only with a few are we to confide

An exhausting search leaves little to find
A reluctant hesitation to cohesively bind

A natural blue that blends with the gray
A fist full of colors in a hand on display

As the end of a memory escapes and turns cold
A lost sense of meaning begins to unfold
