you're not sorry

Laylemon

You're not really sorry, you don't feel regret

You're just feeling guilty since you were caught red-handed.

You're doing it again, forgetting the words you say,

To no one's surprise, you still haven't changed.

And pardon my bluntness, but I think you and I deserve it.

I need some credit for all those months of forgiveness.

So stop those words from coming out your mouth,

Those are the same lies I build my, our, future around.

You're not sorry, you never were

I could never see my reflection

I fell in love with a different person.

Your eyes are red with anger, your fists clenched in defeat,

For the girl you once loved has been set free.

You're not really sorry, you'll never be

But don't fright, neither will I, so pay heed to some sincere advice.

The next soul your heart targets, the next girl who gives you a chance.

Make sure she's loved truly,

And that she never, ever doubts for once,

That you're not really sorry.

truly haunting, im so sorry you had to deal with a person like that. i know what it feels like, my own father was one, and i can tell you its going to get better. they might never change but you learn to grow without them. great poem, wonderful writing.
