Poring under a willow tree

gongmu

Glistering light, bathed in it as you do

I try to ruminate, how is it like

To live in the 'limelight'

To leafen, thrive, by just absorbing light

Yes, Light! with some ground, air and water

You extrapolate upwards to the skies!

Occupying ever more space to capture it

The mysterious, selfless bond between you and the sun

3.5billion years ago this union forged

Way, way, way before the exploiters at the scene

You blossomed and you give, give and give

Donned with that evergreen, one-piece ensemble

You stood defenseless, yet resilient

Taking on the most benevolent tasks of all living

Air, food, fuel, shelter, wood

You gave your all; quietly, patiently and strenuously!!

To the apathetic exploiters

Never a tinge of complaint, a quaver of discontent, a time of rest

How does it taste? This drinking of light??

Sour, salty or plain bitter?? This really is an acquired taste..

Do you rest as darkness falls, or do you simply work, when light beacons?

Do you have a preference, sunlight vs lamplight? Do they 'taste', different??

The breeze stirred, your shadow fades

I tried hiding behind your greeny shield, away from the raying light

Basking under you, in the cool autumn winds, I can't help but question a spiritual conundrum

A romantic I am, could there be a reminiscent, a vague cycle between

us and you?

To stand guard and burn, under the fiery light, in our afterlife?

To give back, repent, for our human deeds

To let light drench our every pore

purify our dark ex-human edge..

A part 2, of our time on earth?
