The Scent of Autumn

Summersounds68

The scent of autumn greets me
with crisp air as my feet
crunch on the fallen leaves
as a reminder that the season
will soon be over and leave
the trees naked and dormant
throughout the winter as
Jack Frost and his icy entourage
do their chilly dance upstaging
the scent of autumn which
was a memory left behind.

Bella, your support is genuinely appreciated. The leaves are finally turning within the Treasure Valley of Idaho. ~ Sonia

A beautiful take on autumn's scent, an oft overlooked part of what makes the fall season so pleasant. It's just beginning to turn here in New England and so far the colors seem much brighter than the they did the past few seasons. Maybe it was the large amount of rain we got this year, I liked the image of "Jack Frost and his icy entourage."
    A well written poem. - Phil A.

Phil A., I am a Yankee originally from Hartford, Connecticut, retired and living in the Treasure Valley of Idaho with my Hubby, Bob. Thank you for your thoughtful words on my poem, "The Scent of Autumn." Have a restful Sunday. ~ Sonia
