Tune: St Hugh
('Lord, teach us how to pray aright')
Colossians 1 v.9-12
********
For Colossians, this prayer is made
Requests to God outlaid
That they might with the knowledge sure
Of God's will be filled more
And that is with all wisdom be
And understanding, see
Of spiritual means, not worldly
Thoughts nor profession be
That they might too live worthily
Of the Lord, pleasing, free
Being in each good work fruitful
So following His will
And in that knowledge of God to
Increase, and Him pursue
Strengthened with all might according
To His power, [in] each thing
It be His power glorious
Available to us
Empowered unto all patience
Longsuffering, good sense
And these things joined with joyfulness
We God the Father bless
He made, gave us inheritance
Of the light, His presence

This is surely by all of us, not only them Colossians (Colossae in Turkey). You know them?! Heard of them?!
Very good, nice hymn!
Thanks C.
Yea didn't we fight them once? A nice write Orchi. You always seem to keep your rhyme and meter in good line.
Thanks SB. I don't know them Colossians and their history much. How about them nearby Laodiceans?!
Technically, a meter has certain syllables stressed in certain lines. I've not considered that in my poems, so I call it 'format' now, or not even that - just give the number of syllables per line, though it reads like we're playing bingo!
The power of prayer, the power of good thoughts. Good write!
Thanks Bella.
Nice one orchi. ❤️
Thanks Teddy.
