Behind

B. Frost

A light blue sky with a cloud or two
The waves ease in with air that is new

The fluffy sand feels good between the toes
An offshore wind calmly blows

Palm trees sway both day and night
Possessing beauty within its light

Chutes open above dancing across the glisten
A breath taken in for the soul to listen

The sun is high and its rays feel warm
Just a month in since the major storm

People a little south are still picking up the pieces
As it wreaked havoc on the west coast beaches

The skyline goes forever as far as the eye can see
This view outside of the recent tragedy

He came and he went shaking the state to its core
Ripping apart the lives on the shore

The difference between both heaven and hell
A few miles down the road the story will tell

The scenery feels different as the breeze comes in
A desperate hesitation for the next one to begin

Decisions are being made to stay or to go
The beauty is less enticing for the ones that now know

The boats are sailing as the tide pulls away
Shattered dreams on a September day

A vast difference that miles can make
A path of precision left in its wake

The weather has not been better since he came and went
Disaster is a result of the first warning sent

A clear blue day and the sun with its shine
Visions imprinted not far left behind
