Resisting Temptation

cnelson

From the terror within the night,

In the other room, the torch burns bright.

With holy darkness dwells the light,

And the face in the mirror that was right.

Can you feel it burning deep inside and the sensation starting to climb?

And the price of admission of using just one last time?

Can you taste the bitterness swimming through your veins?

Can you taste the tormented blood that it drains?

Your heart is slowly pulsating into a faster beat,

Addicted to your past in a steady flash of heat.

From within a voice is heard and you slowly start to pull away,

Resisting temptation of using each and every day.

For its worse than the devil, it's the destroyer of life,

For some it takes away their husband and other's their wife.

Be mindful of those triggers lurking around the way,

Because lost in a life of addiction, is not a place to stay.
