glad to be alive

anna_x_life

I awake

Glad to be alive

After last night

I wasn't sure I'd survive

The shouting

Pain and loneliness

Lack of compassion

Left me breathless

Going through my morning

Making my tea

Putting on makeup

Telling myself I'm pretty

A smile in the mirror

A heave of my backpack

Now it's off to school

Where they cut me no slack

Numbing my brain

Doing my best

I swear

I just need a rest

From people

From life

And then I wake up

Glad to be alive
