HERO

nephilim56

Keep children from the table
It would only blow their minds
To see the crippled hero
To hear government lies.

As he sorts through his memories
Glancing sideways at his scars
Relates them to the medals
Spread across his heart.

The idea gives no pleasure
It drives him half insane
To think he gave everything
While the lucky ones were slain.

In a war that deserves to die
Writhing on the floor
Governments broken promises made
Simply slid away through a door.
