Young to Feel

Hunar Miglani

A slumber did my spirit seal;

I had no human fears:

She seemed a thing that could not feel

The touch of earthly years.

No motion has she now, no force;

She neither hears nor sees;

Rolled round in earth's diurnal course,

With rocks, and stones, and trees.

I was so young

I didn’t know what to feel.

She went away to the lord

To where she always belonged.

I continued my life with all the joys

Forgetting about her all these years.

One day it struck me,

She coming to protect me.

I felt it deep in my heart

Knowing I was young to be that smart

Remembering her beautiful voice

And the way she used to smile

The way she used to look at me

With those tender eyes

Through which she cared for me

And it gave me all the joys.

Knowing I was too young

To know what to feel

She still seemed a thing that could not feel.
