Unto others

2781

In this upside-down world in which we dwell,

Seems our rulers are bent on hell.

History can show: one like Gandhi-there'll be Others too,

Who chose to forgive, bringing peace anew.

The ultimate: Humiliation, plucking off the hair, giving his back to the smitters, spitting in his face-right there!

Knowing the victory was not in might,

Like a lamb to the slaughter,

Showing us how to fight.

"Not by might, or by power!"

The humble he hears in the faithful hour.

"But we must get even, eradicate the threat!"

Live by the sword,  die by the sword.

Lest we forget.

Unto others - unto thee (that's you) - I say 'good write!'

        Lest we forget. Amen.

The crowds bleat joyfully at the gates of the slaughterhouse ...

For this peoples heart has waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest at any time they should see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And should understand with their heart, And should be converted, And I should heal them.
