Where She Lies

Where She Lies

In the early morning rain

he gently slips away again.

Leaves her lying on her side

still believing all his lies

and what he whispered in her ears

all the things she hoped to hear.

Then he gave her all his love

and promises sworn to God above.

But now, it’s time for him to go

before she wakes, before she knows

He’ll hit the dusty roads of sins.

The roads, where he’s the one who wins.

On that dusty road ahead

he’s sure to find another bed

another girl from the field

another girl who’ll quickly yield.

Then, in the early morning rain

he’ll gently slip away again.

He’ll leave her lying on her side

still believing all his lies

trusting in his gentle love

and promises he swore above.

Then, it’s time for him to go

before she wakes before she knows.

Back to the dusty roads of sins

the roads, where he’s the one who wins.

On that dusty road ahead

he’ll surely find another bed.

Perhaps, a tavern to quench his thirst.

Love can wait. His throat comes first.

Then, she waltzed into his life

The girl he thought could be his wife.

He knew at once they’d never part.

her blue eyes burned into his heart.

She grabbed his hand and made him dance.

She smelled of love and sweet romance.

She whispered words into his ears

everything he wished to hear.

She promised love forever sweet.

She danced and swept him off his feet.

She got a room to spend the night.

This time he thought he’d do things right.

Their love was fresh, their love was deep.

Before long, they were both asleep.

In the dark hours of the new day

she once again, gently, slips away.

Leaves him lying on his side

filled with belief of her poisoned lies

but, it was time for her to go

before he wakes, before he knows.

Back onto her dusty road to hell

she stole his money and his keys, as well.
