Vow of Oblivion

AuburnScribbler

Be like god, paint in the gap,

ensure all’s busy, never nap,

such is creation, this is the spark,

in caring guilt, leave a mark,

remove the shame, fill up the pride,

work the mic, live out the lie,

let rosette dreams, be on parade,

to keep all hope, in the shade,

let nature rip, to sing a song,

even an ancient can be wrong,

let what is dry, continue to thirst,

and to those who swim, their dams will burst,

eight billion wakers, will make the breaks,

an angry Earth, will produce the quakes,

“dearly beloved, we are here today,

to marry these, to make the way!”

  • Comment from author about the poem: Even if I say so myself, an interesting one this time. If "god" is the "clergyman's clergyman" then this is the wedding they would have presided over, Earth and Humanity. Though of course, this is written by someone, who has become increasingly disappointed at the cosmic, global and humane state of play, so no proverbial confetti is being thrown here, in it's place, is a somewhat "vindicated" little rant. The banner picture, of the lightning storm is very apt, as it represents both the destructiveness of mankind's core operation; the constant recycled designs of the natural disasters of Earth, but also, it represents the quick irrational judgments of an impetuous and choleric creator. I hope that you enjoy the poem, how the hell did we get here!? And, yes, you've guessed it, when will it get any better!? And as always, please do stay safe everyone.
