They say still waters run deep
But it is my experience that they aren't quiet by choice
In truth they have water up to the throat
And underneath the surface they're struggling to stay afloat
But they can't call out for help
They're too scared to make waves
The last time that happened they were pushed under
And dragged only further away from being saved
So they suffer in silence
As a flood of soundless tears streams across their face
Only adding to the deep waters that are slowly drowning them
They quietly resign themselves to their lonely fate
