Time Isn't Naive

TheDissasociatedAus

Time isn’t naive .

Time isn’t Naive

It will run rings around you while you try to establish yourself

It will try and detach. from you the very essence of innocence.

By the age 8-10 you will have heard someone lie

By 12-14 you will have known of someone being bullied

You hope, looking to create positive world change.

But time is meticulous always planning.

But by the time you reach 16-25 you will have heard of several serial killers and known of a major terror attack.

Maybe now you believe everything is corrupt. Maybe Time was always aware.

But when time allows you to see Joy in the sadness, truth in the lies and hope in grief

What should you believe?

Mums Goodnight kisses or the scars on your face?

Time isn’t naive. But you don’t have to be, it is not expected of you to be.Not just yet.

Who told you to lose your optimism, your vigour?

Time will without doubt chip away at your innocence.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t hold your teddybear tight tonight.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is my very first time posting a poem here. I have tried to write about how time makes lose our childlike innocence and joy and that we should hold onto that a little bit longer.
